Modular fixture design for mass production
Overview:
The project focused on developing modular fixtures to streamline mass production processes and improve manufacturing flexibility. Traditional fixed fixtures were time-consuming to set up and lacked adaptability for different product variants. The objective was to create a modular, reconfigurable system that could accommodate multiple components, reduce setup time, and maintain high precision during production.
Approach:
The engineering team designed a modular fixture system using CAD software and validated it with finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure rigidity and stability. Components were fabricated from high-strength steel and aluminum, allowing easy assembly and reconfiguration. Adjustable clamps, quick-release mechanisms, and standardized mounting interfaces were incorporated to facilitate fast changeovers between production runs. Prototypes underwent rigorous testing for repeatability, accuracy, and durability under high-volume operation conditions.
